Default Thanks McLeod RST owners

Ordered the RST twin disk along with a Fidanza billet steel flywheel for the S197 on 4/2 with confidence. Thank you McLeod owners so much for supplying feedback to this site on your RST McLeod clutches. I could not find a single beef about McLeod other than the price. After all was said and done there was only a $158.00 between the package I ordered vs. the questionable SPEC 3+ and steel flywheel. $158.00 upgrade to first class is worth the extra.

Picked up a billet aluminum racing series Hurst shifter as well and will be putting it in this Easter Sunday after the noon meal. I hate to cover it up. The unit is so nicely crafted. It is miles ahead of the lower end unit and only $60 more for the improved design on the fame.

Will provide followup on how the clutch is doing after it arrives and is installed and that dreaded 400-500 mile break-in LOL!!!

Breakdown on pricng:

SPEC 3+ - $482.00
Spec Steel flywheel - $299.00
Total= $781.00

McLeod RST - $680.00
Fidanza Steel - $259.00
Total= $939.00

Cost difference of $158.00

Finally got the car in and got it back today. Sucks tha the Saleen S/C's don't have enough clearance between their backside and the firewall, so the S/C has to come off in order to tip the engine down to get the tranny out. The labor cost is higher because oft he R/R of the S/c BUT it was a blessing in disguise. THe guy doing the work Adam @ Cincy Speed (excellent and maticulous) found that the linkage on the bypass vlave on the S/C was broken off. They fixed that so it works properly.

Anyway noticed like others that the engagement point is about 3/4 from floor. Light as the stock clutch. Noticed a light bit of chatter if trying to get the car to roll in the driveway or in reverse at idle or very low RPM but from what I am reading this will go away afte more than 6 miles is on the clutch LOL!! Installed new Spec billet steel flywheel. USed original slave. Called Ford about one and they said they don't keep them in stock. Stated that they have little issue with them. THerefore based on the light pedal feel hopefully didn't short cut soemthing that could bite me in the ****. Ony 34000 on car and I don't launch hard and rarely go to the track anymore at that. Car is slowly becoming a drivable fun cruie-in and show vehicle.

Was done for 650.00. The S/C was pulled, Radiator drained, heat exchanger loop for the S/C drained. They found a broken linkage piece on the bypassvalve that they fixed FOC (was documented in photos before they started. They take photos of everything before they start to CTA). Then it was routine from that point on. Adam stated it was not near as bad as he thought. Said it was easy done in a day had he not found the linkage issue which he used to fabricate a new one out of steal vice aluminum. Car looked like it had never been taken apart. Plus fresh coolant. The good stuff, not just something pumped out of a 150 gallon drum.

Thanks to the guys at CINCY SPEED. Craig, Blake, Adam. A stand up forthright group of guys.

awesome, sounds like they took good care of your
car and the labor price is very fair imo.

I have- hmm, 2000 miles on mine and it still chatters in all gears except 5th at precicely 1500 rpm (!) which 100% absolutely does not bother me.

They are beeefy, well make and I bought the flywheel from them too. I paid $700 or so to have it put in.

Happy as the proverbial clam....

Cheers, Steve

yeah the chatter is a little annoying at first, but as time goes by you
get used to it.
