I'm not surprised Cali is raising its fees. They have so many problems with budget they need to balance it whatever way they can.

128$ for a 2 year sticker per car here in MD. Right down the road in WV it's only like 30$ a year, but they also have to get their cars inspected EVERY year, where as MD you only have to do it when you buy the car

Yea, I noticed. The last few years they had a "discount" on the registration, they didn't have it this year, so technically they didn't raise the rates, we just didn't get a discount... not that there is much of a difference, it still means more money out of my pocket.

California is the most f***ed up state I've ever seen. No amount of bad governance could hope to compare to the certifiably clinically insane legislation that comes out of that state on a daily basis.

I sure noticed the increase last July when I renewed my registration. Governor Davis was recalled, in part because he wanted to increase the automobile registration fee. On his first day in office, Governor Schwarzenegger repealed that increase. Then, a few years later, he authorized the big increase we now have in California.

CA registration fees are crazy but the penalty for being late really sucks. I think the last time I registered my truck it was like sitting a year I should have registered it as non operational but was out of the country.. got stuck with a $1100 bill... 2000 Dodge Ram back in 2007.

Then I moved to Texas and my truck is sitting in front of my house havent registered it here dont drive it either.. California actually took $500 out of my bank account which sucked but was funny so I responded to their letter and plastered those little sticky address deals all over it inside and out with my Texas address.... Havent had an issue since.

So down here they say " Dont mess with Texas " but you dont want to F@$# with California..LOL..

thanks for the reminder, just renewed my tags

$50 for generic tag for 1 year, $75 for custom tag for 1 year.

not terrible but still pricey here in the sunshine state.

Yep, I got ***-raped too...luckily they can't touch our property taxes! Thank you Prop 13...our sale tax is also the highest in the US - California (8.75%),
