Going to the track tomorrow night for the first time ever!!!!

Hopefully those new axle gears are adequately broken in . . . I know it's a sixxer, but I think that also means it's still a 7.5" axle.
Just leaving it in 'Drive' is probably the best thing you can do on your first night ever. Less "mental clutter" = fewer ways to make little mistakes..
Don't expect great things to happen on the first run - it's going to be a "throw-away" as far as time slip results are concerned (especially reaction time). Just use it to "settle down" a bit. Call it practice. It might even take a couple of runs to lose the butterflies in your stomach.
I have no idea how many runs you'll actually get (guessing that you're going to Atco). But after the second run, maybe try leaving at slightly different rpms. You're going to have to experiment a bit to find out what works best for you, and in that particular car, anyway.
Don't forget to have fun doing this. I hope when you get home that you're as "pumped" as you appear to be going into it. Just put the "race car driver" mentality in the trunk with your helmet for the ride home. Come this time tomorrow I don't want to read where your evening got spoiled by some official roadside "discussion" or other.

You could try this, when you hit the track, only have about 1/4 tank of gas. It might be an even trade off, weight for rear end hookup, but I plan on making a couple track events and I want to try one with little gas to see if the reduced weight helps any...
Good luck...

remember to turn your AC off
The first time I went to the track, I was so concerned with staging, launch RPM, TCS and whatnot, that I didn't remember to turn off the AC. I had turned it on when I was wayyyy back in line and the Texas heat was building in a black car.
