Need Opinions on tires
Well I went to the track last night with my new 4.10s and I was spinning like crazy. I could not even rev my car at the line, and even without reving, it would spin really bad off the line. Currently I have Nitto 555s, 255/50s. I am looking for something that I might still be able to ride on everyday that will get some better traction at the track. I was considering some NT05s 255/40s. Are these any better then 555s on the street/track? Any info would help.
Thanks

The NT05 do grip better than the NT555. However, you're still running a rigid radial tires. BFG drag radials are probably the best drag radial I've personally seen.
I agree with yourmyboy, you could fit a 275 under there as well.

yeah, it would work. just make sure the tires have roughly the same overall diameter.
I'm running 255/45/18 up front, 275/40/18 out back. Looks great IMO. the rears are maybe 1/2" smaller in diameter, so 1/4" less sidewall. Eyeball can't spot it
You might want to get a set of wider rims (9" front, 10" rear) though and look at a 295-305 width rear rubber though. Those 4.10's are really going to make traction problematic. I only have 3.73's and I can light up my 275's easily at any RPM over 2,000 in first.

Wider tires are not the answer, drag radials or other sticky tires are. I would get an extra pair of 17X8 rims and have one of the following drag radials mounted on them: Nitto NT05R 275/40/17, M/T drag radials 275/40/17, M/T ET streets 26.5x11.5x17 or M&H racemasters 275/50/17.

but if he is rolling around using the car as a daily driver, why not get wider rubber to help with the cars dual purpose?
I've never liked the idea of having 2 sets of rims

Unless you he wants to use drag radials as a d/d, it won't work. Swapping rims/tires at the track is no big deal. I thought it was going to be a PITA to swap rims/tires at the track but it's not. I raced a few times with NT555 285/40/18 in the rear. With good track prep my best 60' was about 1.9 with a 8.89 60' my avg 60' on these tires is about a 2.1 to 2.2 with a 9.1 to 9.2 1/8mile. At the 1/4" which was unprepped, my 60' was 2.3 with a 14.02 at 102. With M&H racemasters 275/50/17, my 60' dropped to 1.8 to 1.9 with a 8.6 to 8.9 1/8 and this is with a D/A of 2000-3200' which means a 8.4 to 8.6. At the 1/4 mile track I was getting 60' of 1.8 to 2.0 with a E.T of 13.9 to 13.7 and a D/A of 2000' Corrected time was 13.2, so extra pair of rims with drag radials is worth it.
