they're offering me a repaint of ONLY THE AFFECTED AREA...kinda sure that won't do much for the long run... this fix is just a way to keep the customer at bay till the warranty no longer applies. blatant thievery.

I guess Dealers are tired of messing around with this problem.

Those hood have this issue because of contamination during painting at the factory plan.
$1300! damn. i got my stock hood lying around, id sell it. but i want to hold onto it for now cause i was gunna pull the trigger on the 5.4 motor in a couple weeks, and incase theres clearance issues with he hood, then i want to keep the stock incase i need to swap it back and incase i need to cut into it for room.

I had mine repaired back in December....so far it's holding up. I'm out of warranty now so if it does come back, could I take it in again and say, "Well, you guys said you fixed it." It's either that or start saving some $ for an aftermarket hood.

You won't have clearance issue with the 5.4 for sure if you stay NA.
With a blower, it might be a tight fit, but clear still.
The TF hood you have now should give you more clearance than the OEM.

Got my car back from the dealer today. The under hood paint looks flawless, and better than it was new.

It took mine about year later and the corrosion was back..this time on top of the hood.Believe me,it will be back. These hoods were contaminated at the factory, whether it was the glue, metal particles etc........it IS contaminated.I think and many body people think the aluminum itself is tainted. For all we know it may be recycled pop cans??!! Ford is doing these "spot" repairs long enough to get people out of warranty and then it's the old "sorry" your out of warranty line. Then to top it all off ,they jack up the price of a hood to $1300 list price!! $1300 for a hood? That is TOTAL thievery! They're day is coming and I hope they hit the S**T can. This thing needs to be exposed nationally by an investigating new's team.Since Ford has released they're sales for the first quarter (over a billion in profit) I would think the media would just love to jump on how they're screwing the consumer with this problem.Any new's media people out there????
