Ran over a plastic bag - melted on my exhaust
#12
You probably wont have much luck removing it. Had a bag hit my pipe on my GSXR and it was right where you see it. Had to replace the exhaust from header back smelt nasty and looked horrible. I guess count yourself as lucky its underneath where you cant see it.

Been there, no much to do. Pulled as much off every time the exhaust cooled down and lived with the smell for 2 or 3 weeks. Eventually stopped burning , but looked like crap. Luckily it wasn't visible unless you had the car on a lift.

Yeah, I guess I am lucky I can't see it. Right after I knew a ran over it and didn't see it come out the back, and then started smelling it, I pulled over and slowly opened my hood fearing that it would be all over the nice jet hot coated headers. Then I would have really been PO'ed ! I guess I'll just live with it.

the use of Methyl ethyl ketone will disolve the plastic, and allow you to completely remove it. It wouldn't be worth it to me, but it will work. If you use it, you need to soak it into a rag, and lay it over the area so that it soaks into the plastic. Then it will just wipe away. It is a very volatile chemical, and needs to be used following all the suggested safety instructions.
