I have had a VMP tune in my car for the last two years and it would never pass NY inspection, even after I contacted them for an emission friendly tune. Hoping to avoid reflashing every year, I contacted Brenspeed and specifically asked for a tune that would pass inspection, have all the O2 sensors on, etc. I installed the tune on June 26, and took the car in today. The tune they sent me had the suffix cef, which I am assuming might mean California emissions friendly.

Guess what, none of the sensors are ready. I have driven at least 150 miles since the installation, possibly closer to 200. Are there any tunes out there that will pass NY inspection? I am really getting tired of forking over $21 twice a year for a car with just 9000 miles on it.

Am I the only one in New York having this problem?

Jessss its not that big a deal to do. Plus the "friendly" tune wont be as aggressive as the other so you would have to upload it everytime right?

I honestly didn't notice much, if any, performance difference between the two tunes, and the supposed emissions friendly tune got rid of my annoying CEL. Besides, I specifically asked for a tune that would pass inspection, if they didn't have one, why didn't they just tell me? I truely don't have a lot of free time, I work 47+ hrs a week, and manage a rental property (that I have been spending all week painting). I thought I would be willing to sacrifice some performance for the convenience of not having to drive a neutered car around for a week before I get it inspected every year.

Did your tuner not store the factory tune? Couldn't you just revert back to it for inspections?

what does New York test for ??? i have a VMP tune and i passed De. emissions no problem , my hc didn't even register 0% at a 12% max / and co was .09 with a 1.20 max allowed . with a vortech tune from VMP
