Default 2011 Ticking

So I traded in my 2007 GT/CS on the new 5.0. On my 3rd tank of gas it has started ticking I used regular instead of premium which the owners manual says is o.k. Should i take her to the stealership or just ride out this tank of gas and use premium next time.

What does the manual say about recommended fluids... I know it has a high compression ratio (11.0:1) that would seem to work best with a high octane...

Instead of running her with the lower octane fuel until your next fill up, why not go get an octane booster... Could raise it enough to eliminate the ticking...

It has the dual knock sensors so 87 octane should be ok, is it ticking at idle or pinging on accel?

Ticking? A ford V8 ticking? Never heard that before. LOL. Seriously, if it's a real problem, you're under warranty.....take it in. Don't worry about octane or additives.

Nothing wrong with running lower octane. With the knock sensors it'll just decrease your power, it was designed for it. But since you're under warranty, its free to have them take a look at it.

I am interested to see what they say. I have no ticking what so ever. I have used nothing but premium octane (93) since the day I got it. However, I am sure the dealership used the cheapest when they filled it up for me.

ALL 2011 GTs have the tick, some people may not notice it, others like me that are **** about EVERYTHING on their cars will for sure.

Take it do a drive-thru or park in a garage and it is much worse.

One guy on another forum had a ford engineer come listen to it and they deemed it NORMAL.
