Is it just me or are the 2011 GT's overpriced?

Just thought I'd throw my .02 cents.

Although the 2011 GTs are expensive cars, or can be expensive cars...they can definitely also be pretty reasonable. I've seen some members around here pick up their '11 GT for around 28K for a baseline setup without leather and all of the fancy stuff...

I picked up my '11 GT with the premium package, pedestal spoiler, hood scoop, auto tranny, and security package and I got it for 31.5K after rebates....I wouldn't say that's a bad price for a 400+ HP car at all.

But I like being a fanboy! In all seriousness, though, if you come on a Mustang Forum and start posting negative things about mustangs, chances are you won't be getting a favorable response. You might be better off checking out a general automotive forum for less biased advice.

If your mindset is to buy a mustang worrying about getting around in the snow there is a fundamental problem to be with.

As many say in this forum all the time buy the mustang save a couple dollar before winter buy a cheap 4 cylinder beater and off you go in the snow if that's you biggest concern.

for 34 grand I would take a low mileage as in less than 10k miles 08 GT500 all day long over a new 2011 5.0.

I am trying to buy a 2011 ford truck, I am willing to place an order, all I want is 10.5% off sticker price with incentives applied after that. bascially invoice price less incentives. I can't get anyone to deal with me. its like they don't wanna sell a truck. maybe ford is being too proud of themselves.

on second thought maybe what is happening is each dealer is only allowed so many 5.0's at the moment just like they are only allowed so many 2011 ford trucks, so in the dealers eyes why sell me a truck for invoice when they can sell what they get to other people for more money. maybe that is what we are seeing.

I think the '11 cars are a bit high priced, especially in this economy. I suspect that's because Ford sees them as selling well, and will try to get what the going rate is, based partly on new-car model hype. While it may be a good value for a 400 HP car, there is also concern among some buyers, that buying a 400 HP V8 may no longer be the wisest thing to do.

Anyway, I got my '08 Bullitt with NAV, factory alarm and car cover thrown in, for $29K out the door, new, at the end of '08. Even it, at around 100 HP less, makes for plenty of go in a daily driver, and it's not a strip-down version (they're premium+ GTs). If I were thinking of a new 5.0 GT, I'd wait a year or two before jumping on one. Improvements will have been made, a few wrinkles ironed out, and better deals will be found. Ford will continue to make special editions, so you won't be missing out by waiting.

I think the car is worth every penny I spent.

I only just recently bothered to look into the '11 at all as my thoughts drift to buying a new "toy" next summer. I'm still exploring options, but my first reaction to the "build" feature on the Ford website was a little bit of surprise at the prices. Its not that I think they are outwardly overpriced for what you get, but they are priced in such a way as its enough to make me stop and start considering other options that I might not have considered otherwise... I'll have to go test drive one I guess and see if I can match the dollars to the car in my head. I also think I'd rather not buy the first model year with a new motor...

I have a similar driving environment as you. I'd just get frustrated with a 400 hp car--or in serious trouble. I don't really see a need for it now that the V6 is such a hot car. My plan is to wait a year, check the reliability of the car with the new engine, and try to pick one up used. Mustangs take a big depreciation hit after the first year, and I'd rather let someone else pick up the tab for that.
