Test Drove 2011 GT
I have been thinking about trading my wife's car in and letting her drive my 2009 Charger RT. The Charger would be our family car. Really been thinking about getting another Vette. It would have to be a C5, a C6 would be out of my price range. I have also been looking at WS6 Trans Am and the new Camero SS.
Test drove an SS with auto earlier this year. Good power, but the auto made it feel sluggish at part throttle and putting my 4 year old's car seat in the back took about 10 min. Also the SS's seem to be pretty pricy, even used.
I picked up my son from daycare and went by my local Ford dealer. They have about a dozen 2011 Mustangs. I looked at a base GT with no additional options. Stickered at $31k, but can get for about $29k with my company discount from Ford.
Well I broke down and drove it, (always a dangerous thing for me when I have the car bug). I must say I was impressed. I went on a 10 mile loop through twisty mountain roads and some freeway. The car handled great and I could feel the power. I took it pretty easy, but I really wanted to ring it out. Not a good idea with the salesman in the car and my 4 year old in the back seat. When I did get on it some I have to say it responded well. Easily the most powerful car I have driven, next to my Z06. My SRT8 Magnum had great power, but you could feel the 4200 lbs too. With no options I would guess the Mustang weighs in at about 3400 lbs. It did feel light and nimble.
My wife thinks I should get a Vette, but she does like the Mustang. Didn't get a chance to ride in it though.

Id get the stang. My kids (6 year old girl, 3 year old boy) love going for rides with me. The back seats are perfect for kids.. and it's nice to share my "hobby" with them. When I ordered my 5.0, I got the glass roof so they would enjoy the ride even more. My daughter actually cried when I told her I was trading my car in. She told me she wouldn't mind as much as long as the new car was blue.. and so was born my Brembo package Kona Blue mustang Now she can't wait until it arrives.
