e-brake cable snapped, need advice
Hi, so my 2005 mustang gt e-brake cable is snapped. I know there is a TSB on it and I tried searching but I cant find exactly what needs to be replaced. This happened last winter by the way, everything froze. Mine snapped on the front cable where the ball thing is where it meets the two rear cables. What do I need to replace besides the front cable? Someone told me that I might have to change the rear calipers too and also the rear cables, but I am unsure and im wondering if anyone has any advice! thanks in advance

i had that happen last winter when i still had my 05. they told me at the shop some crap about the calipers being locked up and needing to replace them too. i refused to do it and insisted they only replace the cable and it was fine. All you need is the cable, I had to order from ford and it seems it was about $100 installed and all. Assuming you didn't drive it with the rear brakes locked and damage something you should only need the cable.

My e-brake froze during an ice storm one year. I tried moving forward and backwards and wasn't able to move. Fortunately, the cable did not snap or break. I searched the Mustang forum and learned about the TSB on the e-brake. I let it set in the parking lot until it thawed the next day. I avoid using my e-brake during the winter time, which is short here in GA. =-)

well I went to ford and they said the front cable is attached to the parking brake lever so I need a whole new assembly. the part is 120 which is fine, but 3 hours installation!! 472 dollars for it installed. I think im just going to order a new one, found this one, http://www.nthcoast.com/store/produc...roducts_id=382 and install my myself
