Default GT500 wheel & tire question...

Found a great deal on a set of OEM GT500 wheels/tires. Have a few questions:

* can I simply swap my 17" for these?
* should I make sure that the wheels are 07 & up for TPMS?

Thanks!

Pretty sure you can put your existing TPMS bands onto the replacing wheels.

if they are actual OEM GT500 wheels they should have tpms bands on them as all OEM gt500 came with the tpms system (gt500 first model year was 2007)

You will need a steering stop kit to go from the 17" to 18" wheels to prevent rubbing.
The are 07-up wheels as gt500 werent made prior to 07.

Are they 19" wheels? If so, you might want to think about why they are so cheap. 19" tire selection isn't the best, and most of what is available isn't cheap. This is why many GT500 owners ditch the stockers to go to 18" or 20" wheels, as it increases their tire options.

I've never heard of that and I went from 16's to 18's no rubbing and its been 4 years. It all depends on the offset.

Note: For vehicles with 16" wheels from the factory: -installing 17" x 8" wheels, use steering stop 4R3Z-3932-BA -Installing 18" x 8.5" or 18" x 9.5" wheels, use steering stop 6R3Z-3932-CA For vehicles with 17" wheels from the factory: -installing 18" x 8.5" or 18" x 9.5" wheels, use steering stop 6R3Z-3932-CA

Just going by the info on the ford racing website. I know I cant turn as sharp w/the factory 18" as my buddy who has the stock 17".

Back when I used to have GT500 wheels, I didn't have to do anything other than to install them on the car. Just slap them on, and go!!!

you should be able to swap the wheels, reprogram the sensors (if they're still on), and go

I've heard where people went from 17" to 18" without replacing the steering bump stops w/o incident although the Ford info recommends it. Just be sure your tire OD on the GT500's is the same or very close to that of the 17" tires. Otherwise your speedometer will be off (adjustable with the handheld tuner).

I replaced my 18" fanblades with GT500 takeoffs on my '07. The takeoffs had, at one time, the bands for the TPMS sensors but they had been removed. I had to buy band kits from AM (about $17 per kit) and had the Ford dealer swap the sensors. Get this: the dealer dismounted my stock tires from my stock wheels, mounted the new bands on the GT500 wheels, removed the sensors from the stock wheels and installed them in the GT500 wheels, mounted my new tires (which I provided) on the GT500 rims and then RoadForce balanced my new tires. Total cost: $35.00

They even had to later remount and balance a new tire (one of the tires was found to be defective during the initial RoadForce balance) and they did it at no additional cost.
