Replace or clean my Steeda CAI ???
Hi guys, I have a Steeda CAI on my 07 GT. The filter is now pretty black and Im considering replacing it. However, Steeda sells an Air Filter Cleaning Kit for about $14. Does anyone have any experience with air filter cleaning kits? do they actually work or should I just replace the filter? Also can I buy just the filter (without the elbow) from Steeda? I just checked out their website and they don't seem to be selling the filters without the elbow. How often do you clean/replace your CAI?

Thanks.

Just buy the K&N recharger kit and clean your filter. I've cleaned and re-oiled my Steeda CAI about 8 times in 20K+ miles i've had it. Still comes out shiny red when I clean it.
Oh right, the only downside to doing this is that your filter will lose it's nice sky blue color and turn red. I think some companies sell filter oils in different colors, but I never bothered to look.

I went to Amsoil filters for replacements on my CAI's...no oiling and easy washing..better filtering...my GT500 pulls a lot of air and the filter was getting dirty often...I like the non-oiled much better...no oil on the MAF...

Yes. I mean, buy a replacement so you can run one while you clean the other. It'll take a day to allow the filter to dry after washing/degreasing it and before reoiling. I have no problems cleaning and reoiling mine. I just had to find a recharge kit with blue oil.
The dry replacement is a nice choice if you don't mind spending the money for a new one every 15k miles or so.

Thanks, but I've already been there. I took measurements of my Steeda, compared them to the Amsoil dimensional specs and found no exact or even VERY close match and even spoke to their tech support folks. If anyone has used an Amsoil dry filter in place of their Steeda, let me know the Amsoil p/n and how it fit.
