Default 2011 V6 w/manual transmission?

Hi-

I'm planning to get a 2011 V6 soon, but I haven't been able to drive a manual yet.

I was wondering... What's the clutch like on these things? The only manuals I've driven have been hondas. I don't expect a mustang clutch to be as light as a honda's, but I'm wondering how stiff they are & how gradual they let out.

I recently drove a Mazdaspeed3, and it seemed like its clutch was either on or off. If the Ford is like that, I'll probably just go with the automatic.

Thanks!

its pretty easy to slip the clutch, it isn't as light as a honda but it isn't as heavy as you might think. It has a decent amount of travel. I have driven a lot through rushhour traffic and it hasn't worn me out yet.

I've read that the new Mazdaspeed 3's clutch is awful, on/off two inches from the floor. And BTW, did Mazda screw up the 3 (in all forms) or what? That was hands down the class of the class until the redesign. Looks so awful now.

I haven't driven a 2011 stick but I'm sure it will be fine. I've heard no complaints, function-wise.

Mine is a manual. I haven't driven one in years and this one is sensitive now that I have it tuned up. Now that i'm used to it, it's so much fun. Especially now that my new exhaust setup lets me hear what I'm doing

I wouldn't worry about it unless you'll be doing nothing BUT city driving. Though, that's just my 2 cents. Manuals tend to be more fun but autos have their place, too. Test drive both if you can and don't be afraid of the manual.

We recently bought a 2011 V6 manual. The clutch is really nice. Waaaay softer than the 2003 Mach 1 that we traded in on it. It's about on par with our 2002 Mazda Protege. It does engage closer to the floor than the Mach as well so it took a little to get used to. But overall, it's so much better.

Good luck.

I personally think the newer mustang's clutch is lighter then previous mustangs. When I first started driving it I had to get used to how touchy it was.

I test drove both and like many have said, the automatic feels a bit sluggish when trying to downshift. I went for the manual and it has a very nice feel. Not too soft, but still very easy to drive. I had a 2000 protege a while ago and it's about on par with that.
