Default Noisy MGW Shifter

I installed my MGW shifter, and I'm impressed with the feel of it, and the nice crisp shifts. However, I get a buzz/vibration coming from the shifter at 3000 RPMs and up. It's not the e-brake, it is definitely coming from the shifter itself.

Has anybody else had this problem? The old shifter was really quiet, but this MGW makes quite a bit of noise. I used the dynamat and the sound deadener they included with the shifter.

I'm going to put it up on jackstands this weekend and take a look, but I could use some suggestions for what to check.

Cheers

not sure what year you have there. did you use all the dynamat? also did you check to be sure the rubber dust boot seated properly? i had to get under teh car to get mine to seat. teh shifter does transmit a bit more noise. I'd check to be sure all is tight and be sure you used all the dynamat.

The noise from the ebrake can def. sound like noise from the shifter.
I went through the SAME thing as you.

Have you HELD the E-brake AND the button while driving?
That is a good way to make sure it is not the ebrake.

Also... did you use the loctite they gave you on the bolts?
If not that could also be your issue.

I get very little noise from my MGW. It was a PITA to get the rubber dust boot on and I had to remove the entire console to do it but I dont think its any more noisy than OEM. And I didnt even use the Dynamat.

*Huh....so my post from hours ago (below) seems to have been swallowed up by the Internet...*
----
I would not be at all surprised if the vibration/rattle you are hearing/feeling is not the shifter at all, but something else and the vibration is just transferring to the shifter because of the better/stiffer bushings in the shifter.

I noticed a fair amount of vibration/noise increase when I installed mine as well. The dynamat helped, but didn't get rid of it. Personally, I think the issue has always been there, but it's just a lot more noticeable now.

Definitely keep us informed on how the investigation goes. I'm very interested to see if you kind out what it is

Thanks for the tips. I did loctite everything when I did the install, but I'm going to re-torque everything when I'm under the car. I also tried the ebrake test, and that wasn't it. I'll let you know what (if anything) I find.

Cheers

BTW. I accidentally double posted this in the tech section. Sorry about that. Anybody know how I can get rid of the other post?

You also need to check your **** as well.
They can cause noise if they are not screwed down well.
If your shift **** came with 3 pieces....loctite that piece that goes inside the ****.
DO NOT loctite the shift handle to the **** though.
