Not backpressure per se.

Exhaust velocity is what you want, which does require a certain amount of differential pressure to achieve depending on the system. Once you've got whatever velocity is required or beneficial, you neither need nor want any further pressure getting in the way.

IOW, "backpressure" is a byproduct, not a goal or an end in itself.
