New Pirellis

New Pirellis
I know, it appears to be another boring post about plain vanilla all season tires.
However, much to my surprise there's something different with these P-Zero Nero All Season tires when compared to the OEM Pirellis that came with my 05 S197 => they grip!
The OEM tires always lost traction(even when brand new), and caused the car to fishtail in 40 F and lower temps when I went WOT in 1st from a dig, or even from a 5 mph rolling start.
The new tires, on the other hand, just plain grip the road under identical conditions. Even hard 1-2 shifts generate only a small chirp.
I tested them on all of the different roads that made the old tires slip and slide, and the new ones grab the various road surfaces like they were on a well prepped drag strip.
Kudos Pirelli!!!

Could also be that the tires that you buy on the aftermarket are slightly different from what is supplied for OE fitment.
Ford, GM, and all the rest, have more and different requirements than individual consumers. So OE and aftermarket replacement tires really can be different even if the sidewall make and model say they're the same.

Yep, same size.
When I first bought the car I closely monitored what its performance related strong points and weak points were. And since I bought it in the winter the 1st weak point I noticed was that hard acceleration in 1st and 2nd caused the OEM tires(brand new) to easily lose traction in cold temps(40's and below).
Not so with the new skins. It was in the high 30's the 1st time I tested them, and I could not make them spin at all using the same launch technique that readily fishtailed the car with the OEM's.
Prior to ordering them, I read that Pirelli improved the tread design so it plants a larger footprint. I thought that would slightly improve the car's cold weather traction, but never envisioned that it would be improved by this magnitude.
I posted this on another Mustang forum, and an Idaho Mustang GT owner stated he had experienced the same traction improvement with his new PZN All Season tires.
