Smile Emissions test with Brenspeed tunes!!

Well, it's that time of year again and I had to get my emissions test done before my B-day. I was a little nervous, due to reading that some folks did not pass emissions with their Brenspeed tune. When I ordered my Brenspeed custom tunes, I made sure to indicate that emissions are required in the state of GA. Results, I PASSED with no issues!
Thank you Brenspeed!!!

it's always a good feeling passing emissions, now you can breath easy
until the next test.

Huh! I ordered an emissions friendly tune from Brenspeed (which I am happy with and still use) and my car would not pass NY inspection. I had to load the stock tune back in to get it to pass, I had to do the same thing with a tune from VMP. I wonder what the difference is?

Good question.....Maybe in the State of NY the requirements are more stringent, therefore, making it more difficult to pass the emissions test?
Anyone else from NY have any issues passing the emissions test with a tune?

I assume it failed for monitors "not ready" ? NY emissions inspection looks for any DTC's commanded on and on a 2001 and newer vehicle, only one monitor can be "not ready". Of course, the inspection station is also supposed to look for certain emissions items, such as cats. If the cats are missing, the vehicle is supposed to fail. An true emissions compliant tune will allow all monitors to set to "ready". If your vehicle failed for monitors "not ready", then your tune is possibly at fault. I have a 93 octane tune from JLT that passes with no issues.

Congrats. It's not easy to pick up big power and still pass emissions.
