That's still extreme cheese IMO. Putting that into the F-150's and others is just kind of a pimp-slap to the face.

Thing is, what if it's a slow leak? Not parked at home when it leaked? While still obviously unfamiliar with them, I assume these scenarios are still possible. To have to bust out a vacuum pump and such just to check and/or fill, my "WTF?"-meter is still pegged for that one.

Sounds like your brake solenoid has failed and that is preventing the shifter from being put into or removed from park. There is the little white button under a cover plate. Like mentioned above, use that to bypass the solenoid and see if the problem is corrected

Same here, no way in hell am I touching most of the mechanical aspects of my car for mods or simple upkeep. Not the dealer in many cases, but still.

I´d have probably known about this several years ago if I had an auto as I´d be looking in the compartment for 20mins and while muttering expletives post/search for why I can´t find the bloody thing. While I don´t usually so much as change my oil any more, I do like to know enough to at least keep checking things in between maintenance visits.
I even like reading the instructions that come for doing the rear ends and such, no way in hell I´d ever actually do it myself, but it´s nice to know what´s involved.

A selective leaky tranny that knows the difference between
your driveway and the walmart parking lot so it never leaks
when parked at home but does leak othertimes when not
parked in the driveway of its owner?
I would not give Ford that much design credit.

Shoulda got a manual tranny so you wont have to worry about
automatic transmission fluid levels. Ford did it to keep owners
from putting in the wrong fluid then claiming defective warranty
work.

The few leaky ones that amounted to damage from friends having this, leaked most of the contents out while away.
Really, do you check under the car before you jump into it every day anyplace you are? Home, work, mall?

As for myself, I don't have that issue, as I've had a couple auto transmissions, but never intentionally bought a car with it. Certainly, not this car.

I would say the OP either has an issue with the push button shifter release on the side of the shifter handle OR as mentioned, the shifter release solenoid that is activated by the brake pedal. As to the noise when driving, sounds like the wrong gear was selected by the driver. Keeping things simple at first helps sort out an issue. Just wish the OP would respond as to anything helping.
