Thanks for the link, the illustrations of the helical screw lobes show what I was trying to describe.

Also, since there are no pulses of compressed air, the continuous compression evens out the heat created by compressing the air.

I thought I had read something about that too. Roots move air between the blower case and the lobes, TS move the air between the screws through the center.

How much hp does it take to drive a twin screw? From what I gather, it only takes 1hp to drive a roots..

the new TVS rotors are very good too, numbers very similar to TS.
TVS is more efficient and gets a little more power with lower boost, TS is more efficient with bigger boost.
either one will get big power. but i havent heard of TVS making a bigger displacement blower to match TS SC like Whipple 4.0 or KB 4.2

i am a big fan of Whipple, bc thats what i got. but i like the KB liquid cooled units too. KB would be my 2nd choice for a TS. the TVS are great SC too.

If you are doing your research before you buy a SC, I hope you are considering more than just roots vs twin screw.

I'd say the Eaton 2300 TVS rotors can handle their own when it comes to the HP game.

This was what I was led to believe. Which makes me wonder why so many people are fans of the TS. Also, all of the whipple comparison articles are on the older Gen 3-lobe SC's not the new Gen 6 4-lobe. For the guy's with forged bottom ends looking to make 20 psi+ the TS seems more beneficial.

But for the guys looking to keep the stock bottom end, the TVS kits would seem to be the better choice.

I do think a major disadvantage that the roots have is displacement. TS can advertise the 2.3, 2.9, 3.4 and 4.0 vs the roots only going up to a 2.3

LOL, Nice. I know most of the GM and Dodge guys use the Roots style SC's. Again, the reason I'm looking for arguments from both sides.

I'm taking a few different things into consideration. I do plan to rebuild the block and am looking to make it near 650 rwhp. And I've seen companies get close to that off the stock 5.0 block with a roots 2.3 blower (JDM and VMP). and several do it off the TS, but it's always with the larger displacement SC's.
