Holy crap someone else from Illinois! lol I think you're the only one on the forum so far that I've found from IL. I've been thinking about getting snow tires too, although decided that instead I'd have tire chains in the trunk to throw on in case I just absolutely have to drive in crappy weather.

They come today, I'm looking forward to throwing them on

There may be snow on top but there's plenty of fire down below.

+1 on the Blizzaks! I got a set off Tire Rack and the 17" "base GT" wheels from New Take Offs. LOVE them...they've gotten me around with ease in the two 4-6" storms we've had so far here in Cincy!

I got the Michelin x-ice 2 tires but if it's snowing or snow on the roads, I'm not going out unless it's an emergency.

Quick question 'ere, those that are using winter tires, are you just having them swapped off for the winter months, or using separate rims for these?

Be nice to have them now that it looks like it's going to be nasty this year as we've had a recent bit of nastiness, and it looks like Sunday could be interesting, but I'm not a money pinata here. I have no wish to get a second mortgage to pay for my driving.

I drive mine year round as well. I use Nokian Hakkapeliitta RSi tires on all four wheels and they get me through Chicago winters just fine!

Sure it is, if you like crapping your pants and having a death grip on the wheel.

Don't remind me I almost snapped my steering wheel last year (seat was unstained), the stock BFGoodrich's can handle a bit, but it sure wasn't fun.

I have a separate set for my winter tires, which are on my stock rims. Not going to expose my good rims to the winter wonderland of salt and chemicals.
