The LEGEND Kawabata does the impossible in the video below. If you watch the replays that show different angles, you'll see he actually enters the corner BACKWARDS!!! Can you say holy sh*T? I love the view from inside the car! And yeah, he is going a LOT faster than you might think.

A lot of people think:
"I can do burnouts"
"I can do doughnuts"
"eh... powerslides aren't tough"
"how hard can it be to take a roundabout at "only" 40mph?"

And then stupidly come to the conclusion: "Yeah, piece of cake... I can drift!"

Let me answer you as succinctly as I can... No, no you can't

+1, yeah its one of the hardest things to do in any type of racing. It takes skill to know when to use the gas, and when to turn the wheel in what direction. Its something not many can do, and even fewer can do in an effective manner. Granted its sometimes not an effective manner of taking turns lol, but you have to admit, its 100x harder than just mashing the brakes and turning the wheel and a whole lot more stylish. Just my 2 cents.
I dont know about drifting straight up, but sometimes I can do small fun ones when there's snow/ice in an empty parking lot haha.

I've got a buddy who has a 750rwhp Evo. I've been in the car when he has tried to show me the "art" of drifting. All I can say is that it is more of a science than an art. Oh, and that it will scare the sh*t out of you.

Not my thing at all. But big-time respect.

I drift in the snow all the time. Granted, it's different from actual drifting, but it is still really fun.

Drifting isn't hard, I used to do it when I lived up north in the snow or in the summer on gravel roads, it's just a matter of keeping the car on the balance of recovery or spinning out, not hard at all. All the drifters do now is put in some tire smoke. I wouldn't want all that rubber glued to the wheel wells. As far as speed goes, drifting fast or slow it's still just a balancing act. There's a commercial out now that shows a Challenger drifting at about 1 mph, and it is a balancing act even at that speed.
A lot of people seem to like watching drifting just as people like to watch someone do a burn out until his tires pop, I don't get either one. But, that's just me. Anyone want to send me the price of a pair of 275-35-18 555s I would be happy to film the removal of some rubber. I would even hook up a white smoke bomb in the back just for effect.
