Default Installed UPR Catch Can

After noticing excessive oil im my intake manifold when I installed delete plates, I decided I needed a catch can. I purchased a UPR catch can and installed it today...

I am curious to see how much oil I will capture between oil changes.

I have the same can. I empty mine every 2500 miles. It is 2/3 to 3/4 full at that mileage.

As I said, I am OK with the UPR can. Since I bought and installed mine, I saw a post (I forget the brand) that showed a can that looked very much like the UPR can but it came with OEM Ford type hoses with the Ford connectors all pre made. You just take your old hose off @ snap the new can with hoses on. Very cool. You probably still have to attach some sort of bracket but that is all. I wish I had seen this can before I got the UPR. I had to replace the heater hose with fuel hose because the vacuum sucked the heater hose flat.

I just installed mine (see thread) and swapped the heater hoses out for high-temp oil/fuel vacuum hose and there was already a bit of oil in it. May have to drain it more often!

I've been eying one of these for a while, getting ready to take the plunge.

It's going to be nice welcome change from the OCC I had in my mazdaspeed 3, I had to empty that thing every time I got gas, and it would be overflowing. Looked like a nasty gourmet coffee with a lovely mixture of gas and oil (stupid direct injection). Literally would fill up a 16oz catch can in about 300 miles.

The view chamber on the side of it is a bunch of crap. Those things break off and leak all the time. Not only that, but it's a universal application, so you'll have to fab up your own brackets. And it doesn't have any form of a separator to keep stuff from exiting the can back into the motor.

I had one of these on my Mazda.

Pretty pricey, I know, but I had organized a group buy and was able to get them for like 109 a piece. It was real nice since it had removable mesh that you could clean out.

I'll probably just go for the JLT one since it looks to be about the same quality, and comes with all the stuff needed to make it work, so no making brackets, or buying hoses or adapters.
