My new tires ride the same as stock, but with more traction!

Hey Jdmcbride,
are they your new tires in your sig? Have any pics of the new tires on the 18" wheels? I have the same 18" polished wheels...

I always thought that the 235/50/18 size that came on the car looked a little narrow for the wheel. But I am thankful that Ford made these wheels 8.5" wide(as I prefer the look of the polished bullits).
I will try to take some close up pics of the sidewall and post them here.

So I went with the Yokohamas 255/45/18. They look so much better then the stock tires. They actually have a little thickness too them....and the ride is great. Thanks guys for the good advice.

I just bought a pair of Nitto NT555 255/45/18s for the back and I can't wait to get them on. I just wish I could have gone bigger on my current rims though. I'll report my finding once they're on.

That's actually a pretty good match. Your speedometer will be off by 0.4 MPH higher than it is now, assuming the tire specs are the same from brand to brand. Use this: http://www.1010tires.com/tiresizecalculator.asp
More importantly, what is the width of the wheels are on your car? Most tire manufacturers recommend 8.5" min for 255's, if I recall. An 8" width can take a 245/.

Given 763.3 RPM for 235 and 769.5 RPM for 255 how did you come up with 0.4MPH knowing that the percentage in rev difference is approximately 1 percent and at what specific speed would that 0.4 would apply exactly? Wouldn't that difference be variable depending on speed or is it still 0.4 MPH even when vehicle is moving at 0.1 MPH which means the reading would be 5 times higher ((0.1+0.4)/0.1=5)? lol Sorry I'm getting rhetorical here. What nuke was trying to say is that when you hit 100 it will read 101 and at city speeds your reading will be off about 0.4 MPH, and as far as ride comfort you won't feel a thing.

Yes, the tires on the car in my sig are my new Goodyear Eagle F1 Supercar tires. The tire size is 255/45/18 and fit the factory polished bullit wheels perfectly - these are the tires that should have come on the car from the factory.
