Smile 07 gt/cs - resale help

Hi - I just received a letter in the mail from the general manager at the dealership where I bought my 07 black gt/cs stating they have a buyer interested in purchasing it and Ford would pay over book value for it. First thought was this is a joke, but it's signed from the GM and looks legit. I know there were only so many of this model made, but I'm curious - I mean there's several of them out there on AutoTrader. The fact that I'm closer and the client could be a potential collector are the only reasons I can think of. Should I be hanging onto this baby?! lol

Thanks in advance,
Laura

It's probably not legit. I have gotten a similar letter for the last three cars I've had. Can't hurt to try though. Most likely they are trying to sell you a new car.

My friend got a similar one with a ridiculous offer (like 80% of the original value as a trade-in on a 6 yr old Hyundai) turned out to be bogus

If it is truly from the dealer, it just might be a good deal. I got a letter from the local dealer some time back about my '07 GT Vert. They were wanting to buy it based on it being serviced by Ford all its short life and offered a reasonable deal. Go in and take the letter with you and see what they have to offer. You are the only one that can determine the authenticity of the letter but it is from your dealer......

Yep, I got those same letters on the two I bought. They are just trying to lure you back in so you will buy another car from them.

Bring the letter in with you and tell them I don't want a new car but, you could buy my car for an over the book price. That would be most likely more then you would get if you sold it privately. Then look on the internet and get 2012 for under invoice. I would love to hear their reaction when you state you want the check and no new car.

They love people that fall for things like that.
