Default Fog Light Replacement Bulb

Hey Guys,

I am looking to replace my fog light bulbs to a bright bulb, any suggestions?

Keep in mind, I have LED switchback turn signals and HID headlights (4300K - pure white). I am also considering getting CCFL halo replacement lights for my fogs. So whatever bulb I get, I want it to be close to the white color of the CCFL ring and my LED turn-signals.

As a heads up, I don't want to buy another conversion kit for the fog lamps. Just looking for the best and brightest bulb I can find.

If you have a suggestion, please include a link to where I can purchase them.

The Sylvania Silverstars are 4000K and the Silverstar Ultras are 4100K. Stock halogens are in the 3500K range.

Remember that if you intend to experience some really bad conditions at night, consider 2500k or 3000k bulbs. The added contrast is a life saver. If you won't be driving under those poor conritions, then be fashionable!

Do you have something in mind about bad conditions? What colors are the 3500K range?

Although the thought process over the years has changed regarding the ability of a more "yellow" bulb reducing glare, yellow lamps provide better contrast in very dark conditions with rain, fog or snow. I've tried various combinations and the warmer the temperature (remember, Kelvin means warmer as the # goes down) such as a 2500k or 3000k lamp do make life a lot easier in nightime slop. The reason that both US and European provided cars with ~3500K lamps was based on a compromise for good and poor weather. Your 4300K HIDS shouldn't cause much if any issues in foul weather but you WILL notice an improvement with the warmer lamps in that nightime slop.

Fog lights are not driving lights; their use is for edge-of-the-road visibility. I've been on back-roads with no lines in such dense fogs that w/o the fogs on I found myself in the oncoming lane and would have eventually ran off the opposite side of the road.

Yeah, they won't match your headlights for those of you that prefer fashion over functionality. But I run Hella Optilux Extreme Yellow at 2500K in all 3 of my present vehicles fog lights.

Most stock halogens are about 3500K. It's what you see at night with traffic coming at you; that yellowish look compared to the couple of cars with 4000K or higher lamps.

For the most part, I drive a lot in town and use my fog lamps as daytime lamps.
When I am driving at night in the country I turn on my HIDs and that point I really don't care if the color matches exactly. Its dark and I need to see the best.

But since I do the majority of my driving during the day, or at dusk, and in town (which is lit up well via street lamps, I really don't use my HIDs the most. That is why I was trying to match my fog lamps to the purest white I could find. Since my LED turn-signals, when I am not turning, and the halo rings are both bright white, I wanted a bulb that didn't look obviously yellow in comparison.

Be careful here. For my '06 there are two part numbers as well, but one is for the GT and one is the V6 Pony Package lights. Not sure how it works on the newer cars but you may want to pull the bulb and take it to the store with you.

What are the two numbers? I don't have my manuel in front of me, but if you tell what they are I will know. I want to say they are H13 or H11.

Here check out this link. They detail head and fog light bulbs.
http://www.americanmuscle.com/bulbid.html (see bottom of page)

H11 were for V6 pony package fog lights.
H10 was for the GT fog lights.
H13 is for the stock headlights on Mustangs.
