Whenever I take my car to he shop for an inspection for that DPS sticker, the seat air bags are not a requirement. As a matter of fact, I don't even know how they would check the functionality of seat air bags without setting them off.
An electrician can check if the air bags can receive a current with an Ohmmeter, but he cannot verify they will deploy, LOL

Sure you knew that tho! My buddy dealt with the electrics hassle when he fitted these for me. Its not easy, but its definitely possible...The side airbag system consists of
the following:
• An inflatable nylon bag (airbag)
with a gas generator concealed
behind the outboard bolster of
the driver and front passenger
seatbacks.
(not trying to be an ***, just making sure there is an airbag in the seat)

On page 115 the owners manual says this:
