Default Manual seat adjustment bar on brand new 2011 GT. Help!

I just bought a 2011 Mustang GT last week and noticed the bar under my passenger seat is all scratched up. This is the bar up pull up to adjust the leg room.

Well the dealer says they will switch it out, which would mean them having to take out my seat. What are the odds they scratch something else in the process? Can the bar be removed separately? I hate dealing with dealerships, they never take care of the car and I always end up with a scratch.

If it really bothers you get it replaced, but with that said is it possible they will do more damage YES. I would leave it alone, especially since you cant really see it.

Why not try to touch it up with some Testor's model paint (gloss black should be perfect)? Costs $1 and if you still aren't satisfied, I would think they will still switch it out (maybe ask them to verify that if you don't know the service guys very well).

It really is a crap shoot dealing with dealerships. Unfortunately they don't sell the part I need separate from the seating tracks or I would buy and install the damn thing my self. I have yet to find a decent service department. Frustrating to find things wrong on a brand new car.

I'm just a little on edge right now with Ford's quality control. The sound dampener behind the engine in the engine bay has a rip in it, I have a couple scratches in my interior, and my seat adjustment bar is all scratched up. And on top of that I get under my new car on Sunday to check out the engine and see someone hit something, the plastic portion on the bumper has a chunk out of it. Ahhh!!!!

Was it used? How many miles were on it? I don't see how any of that can happen from the plant.

If you're worried about that, you're going to become a basket case for all the other things you'll find.

I would never buy a new car as new with 78 miles on it unless it was discounted a fair amount. That is 78 miles of test rides, dealers going to lunch, and mechanics joy riding.

Sorry, I guess I should have tied a bow on that. I think you should have the dealer do a full inspection and replace anything that isn't perfect. There is no reason for them to give you a car in that condition and sell it as new.
