CAI Heat Shield and DON'T Buy CAIs from Amazon
#2
Well given the overabundance of specific information you gave, I'd say you'll probably be waiting awhile before you get a good answer.
How about you specify what CAI you actually bought? Perhaps provide some pictures of it installed.
Why did you opt to buy one from Amazon.com instead of a vendor who specializes in Mustang parts?

Assuming you were smart before buying and had obtained the opinions of the forum members (leave it to me to make THAT assumption), you'd have been told to buy the CAI & tune combo from Brenspeed or AM since everyone told you that a stand alone CAI is useless anyway.
Now that I've let off that steam, I wish you luck getting your problem resolved. My suggestion is to cut yur losses, toss that in the trash and start back on the RIGHT track.

I would probably suggest going back to the stock intake and airbox... the amazon.com one can't be all that great looking if you have to readjust it everytime you open your hood... seems like a lot of hassle for nothing... take it as a loss and put the stock airbox back in... we've all made some kind of similar mistake... just look at it as lesson learned

That looks like a Spectre brand CAI. And yes, they are absolute garbage. Return it ( can't you do that with a RMA and different box ) and get a CAI + tuner combo from a vendor.
You get what you pay for in the end...and modding isn't cheap by far.
Edit:
Wait, $300 to unlock a tuner? I'd double check that price, SCT charges $150 to unlock a locked tuner. For $380, you can get a brand new tuner from AM or someplace...
