Seeking contributors for Engine Rebuild guide - noobs like me welcome!

I am looking forward to this as well... I have an engine already built with forged internals that a friend and I are going to be pulling apart in the next week or so. Let me know if you want some pics of this as well.

Just how extensive do the buildups that you are planning to cover get? Block and rotating assembly from the machine shop and the file-fit rings and everything else in a pile of boxes on the shop floor is a bit more than building up from an existing shortblock.
Some generic things would carry over pretty much unchanged from a pushrod buildup, so you might want to look outside the modular-motor realm a little. I'm sure that there will be people who have never torn into any engine before, let alone read up on it much.

This initial push will be focused only on things someone could do at home, given the average mechanical tool set. Anything that requires a machine shop, will probably be mentioned, but this will be based on the assumption that the reader will be either buying a shortblock, or buying parts to put into their block.
As an example, the importance of balancing the rotating assembly will be mentioned, but not HOW to balance the rotating assembly.
The goal is to get people who buy the shortblocks, or rotating assemblies and say "I can't install this" to get enough confidence to brave it and do it themselves.
This wont be a comprehensive "how to build a motor from the ground up". This will be very specifically geared towards these motors, and the steps you need to take to put one back together.
If someone wants to piece together a crank, rods, pistons, etc, I do intent on going through the steps of installing those separately. If someone buys a short-block, there will be a link in the PDF to click and skip ahead.
