Just out of curiosity, from what your friend stated, do you have the illumination wire from the head-unit connected to anything on the metra harness still?

yea i also think it was grounding... but i cant tell because im telling him over facebook chat how to fix and wire everything (normally im with him doing the wiring) so idk.
would it cause the fuse to blow if the ilumination FROM THE RADIO was connected to the yellow (constant)?????

Not wired that way, no. Something was different from the description, had to be. If there was no connection and no short to the SJB fused line, then it wouldn´t blow.

Putting all 3 on the battery would just equate to having a radio that would never go off on it´s own. That´s it.

But it works now, so happy days, and have fun y´all.

Should you wish the illumination to function correctly, it will have to be tapped after the dimmer control somewhere. I don´t think a single mustang has ever actually had an illumination line run to the radio harness, ever.

The easiest method I´ve heard of is from black and white wire coming off the dimmer wheel on the dash, tap it and run a line to the head-unit directly.
