19x11 Rims with 315s on a 2010 Shelby GT500
I want to put some 11" rims on the back of my Shelby to get 315s on it. Can this be done just by buying rims of that size or will I need some type of modification to put those rims on.
Is there another way to get 315s on the back of the Shelby that some place like Discount Tires could do?
I don't know anything bout tires or wheels other than I need some wider tires on the back to help with traction. I don't know of any mod shops in the area and I'd get stuck with a place like Discount Tire being able to provide what I need.
Any information would be extremely helpful. Any information on rims I can order that will work out of the box or tires / other recommendations would be awesome.

19x11 with a 8.5" backspace will work. However, if you want to improve traction, you need to consider a smaller diameter rim with more sidewall. A pair of 15x10s wrapped in 325/50/15drag radials will give you much more traction than a pair of 19x11s wrapped in 315s. To get the 325/50/15s to fit you will need to relocate the swaybar and trim the bump stop brackets. A trained monkey could do it.

If you are looking for more traction on the track for racing then I would suggest getting what Diabolical said.
If you are looking for better traction on the street I would suggest a tire with a better rubber compound. Michelin Sports PS2, or any Name Brand Drag Radial. You will get mroe benifit from a softer tire than a tirer with more surface area.
Look at the Nitto Extreme Drag Radial in 305/45/18. I have 540 rwhp and can hook those one the street in any gear.
Mickey Thompso makes several 300 wide tires in DRs. They work better than the Nittos and offer a shorter sidewall if you are concerned about looks.

Thank you for the replies.
I'm basically looking for traction on the streets, not the track. I may never go there. The guy I talked to today at discount tire said I'd have to get some forged or custom made rims at 11" to fit 315s which were up to $1200 a piece. So then I looked at 305s which apparently I could get 20x10.5 rims for but those were really expensive per tire.
What's the best combination if I start reducing my factory rim size from 19"s that would look good and have street traction? Are there any other good 10" rim sizes I could get and what size tire would I need to put on it to equal out to the 35/19s I have on there now?

The other day at a cruise there was a GT500 with Alcoa wheels (which are 20x10)that had 335/35/20 Michelin's on the back and damn did it look nasty from the back. I didnt get to talk to the owner though i couldnt find him to see if he had modded anything.

Dont get hung up on the width. Think composition rather than width.

After taking some measurements to ensure proper fitment, you could always widen your wheels. I'm seeing people widen their stock 9.5's to 10.5's - 11's all the time.
Attached link is for a company I see many positive responses from.....might even have them widen my Alcoa's when the time comes.
