Default Lost a hood pin clip

Well I lost one of my hood pin clips yesterday, and dont know where to start looking for a new one. They reminded me of the body pins on my r/c nitro cars I used to have, but not sure if those would work. Any suggestions?

LOL, those hobby clips won't work. Go to the hardware store. You need a Hairpin Cotter Pin. They should have various sizes. Just match the one you still have. Should cost like a buck or so.

Yes, those would be too small. Those are all pins fro 10th scale RCs or maybe 8th scar RCs. Those would be much too small.

I have no clue if 5th scale pins would work, but I bet $100 that even 5th scale pins will be too damn small.

If you can, try to get the self locking kind of pins. Or better yet, do just like on your RC body clips: get some big zip ties to replace the metal lanyards so you don't scratch up your hood and also, if the hoodpin/clip falls out, you won't lose it.

I only know all this crap because I used to be an avid RC fan. But then all these Chinese RC companies started breaking all sorts of copyright laws and made illegal copies and flooded the RC market with cheap inferior RCs. Even the great companies, like Losi, Associated, and many more had no choice but to export all their RC making to China just to reduce costs and to try to remain competitive. Hundreds, maybe thousands of American RC workers lost their jobs.

And because of this, I gave up on RCs. Just about every single one is made in China (Losi, Associated) or in Taiwan (HPI, Taraxxas).

Alright thanks guys, I am going to check my local ace hardware and home depot wednesday on my day off.

Jim-- I never dealt with the 5th scale's I only had 8th scale savages and cars, but those would've even been to small.

Yeah, your right. I pulled a body clip from one of my 5th scale gas RC trucks, and even that is way too small.

I too got into RCs with Savage trucks, I loved them! Then I bought my 'Stang and realized that RCs are simply not near the the fun a real car is!

Don't get me wrong, I still bust out an RC on an occasional weekend. Heck, when I was snowed in, I was bored as hell, so I took out a nitro, fired it up, and had a blast drifting and making doughnuts on the ice! My fellow snowed in neighbors were not as enthusiastic from the noise! LOL

I am still an avid RC fan. Have a couple grand worth of stuff in my hobbyroom right now. Got an RC that would beat my Stang in a 1/4 mile.
