The only thing I swapped are the actual gauge overlays. They are completely interchangeable once you take the clusters apart. So, yes, the boost gauge is actually reading water temp from my original overlay, and the water temp is reading the amp from my original overlay.
It's kind of confusing I guess, but really it ended up being a gauge "overlay" swap.
Wow ... that turned out to be an expensivie overlay!!!
I would have bit the bullet and paid the dealer to install the GT500 cluster. You are missing out on the Red/White/Blue special MYColor THEME ... and most importantly .. you are not getting the customizable SHIFT LIGHT and TONE .... I have the SHIFT LIGHT/TONE set for 5500RPM and I use it all the time ... My reflexes aren't that fast so by the time I actually shift after hearing the tone it's closer to 6K rPM .
Wow, that sounds like it was a mess for you for a while. It looks great but I couldnt stand the gauges being labeled wrong! Do you think you'll just leave it that way?
shouldn't you be able now to use your tuner and adjust the tire revs per mile to "adjust" the speedometer reading? Compare it to your gps until it is right?
That is not the outcome if you have the dealer install it. If the dealer installs it everything works properly except for the Boost Gauge.
The ideal situation would be to have the dealer install it for sure. I couldn't have the dealer install mine because of my aftermarket push-start button and the fact that I no longer have factory keys.

Speedometer isn't right? Tach isn't right? Boost gauge is the coolant gauge?
Yup, I'll be passing on this mod for sure.
It all depends on what you want, that's for sure..... I wanted the look of the gauges which is why I ended up doing what I did.
The speedo is off by 10mph, and I normally use my GPS anyway for speed because the old gauges were so hard to read. I know where the other gauges are supposed to read so I'll notice if one of them climbs or drops too much.
