Default front strut tower brace and after market wheels

Regarding an '06 GT - I am adding a front strut tower brace and am wondering if the nuts are re-useable and what the torque requirement is.

Also, would like to buy new wheels. Considering the Helo HE8882817234 which has the correct backspacing, offset, hole pattern, etc. American Racing says these will fit the '06 GT others say they will not. These are 20" and of course the GT came with 18". Curious if anyone has tried these, I want a more solid look, not the typical 5 spoke design which is common. What size tire would be required with a 20" wheel?

Learning lots from your site! Many thanks to whoever responds!

I switched from 20's back to 18's. The ride on the 20's was just too harsh. Not enough sidewall there to absorb the bumps!

The strut mount nuts torque spec is 26ft/lbs. Not sure if those are torque to yield, but I reused mine.

This "How-to" has all the front suspension specs in an attachment towards the bottom of the 2nd post.

OK, thanks for the info regarding the wheel size and the strut tower nuts.
Regarding the wheels, I agree with the ride issue based on other vehicles I've done that to, I would rather not change wheel diameter but what are different wheel choices? I've searched the internet and can only come up with the "typical" 5 spoke design, which is
fine but I want something different. Does anyone have some really unique wheel designs that fit the '06 GT??? Many, many thanks again!

I'm not a big fan of putting them on backwards... Some people say it's OK to put on with the bow forward, but others have dented their hoods when closing...

I cut mine and rewelded.... If you have access to a welder, this is a $20 brace when finished (or just put on backwards)... I can't really tell any difference in handling, but what the heck for $20 I can't complain...

Fancy spacer to set clearance after cutting...

Spatter protection...

Final...

I have the Halibrand style wheel. When I go to shows, I'm usually the only one with these rims. I think they make the car look great. Not a big fan of the "open rim" trend.
