one last time, just because there is actually a hole that goes to the engine bay, does not make it functional.

Hood scoops add an aggressive, bad-*** look to stangs IMO. Love the Roush hood scoop.

Screw the non-functionality argument...throw a supercharger under the hood

I know.
The hood I linked is not simply a hood that has a hole into the engine bay, It has additional parts you buy that directs air from the scoop into the intake air box. That is why it is functional in that respect.

Also, there are ram-air with heat extractor vents in some aftermarket hoods. In that respect, they are functional in that they exchange air out of the engine bay to help cool everything under the hood. Eevn though itdoes not scoop air to go into the intake.

That still doesn't make it functional. Spending $400 plus the paint job for a hood that you can say sends air to the air box makes no sense to me. The air intake is going to suck in the same amount of air even if you have the hood forcing air at it or not. It's the same thing with the shaker, basically no performance gains. Hood vs Hood Scoop is all about looks. Either you like them or you don't. Both serve no purposeful function.

I assume those who are in favor of the "functional" scoops are referring to the ram air shaker hood scoops. Those who have one can correct me if I'm wrong but from what I've read they only add 1-2 hp. That doesn't seem worth the extra $500-600. Now if they gave you an extra 10-15 hp I'd definitely pay the extra money.

I have the Roush Hood Scoop. Whenever I take long trips on open roads or interstates, the scoop does reduce my speed by a couple of miles, but not by much. The hs did come with the car when I bought it from the dealership.
