Default Trade in value

Do you always demand KBB trade in value? Or is it normal for dealerships to offer way below your trade in value? I ask because my dealership offer me $2,000 below what kbb value is ans my vehicle is in excellent shape so i was kind of dissapointed

You can fight for better trade in value, basically the dealer is trying to make as much profit off your car as they can. I went and talked to my local dealer about trading the '10 for an '11 and they did the same thing. So i walked out.

Just gotta haggle the trade in up and the sticker price of the new car down! or sell your car privately.

In my experience you will never get KBB value. It's a pipe dream. Use it as a guideline at best.

I ALWAYS get mid range kbb. I have traded 3 cars in the past 2 years and got mid range kbb on all of them. One of them just last week - mid range kbb. I have been seriously pondering the idea of selling my vert and would accept nothing less than mid range kbb for it, especially now at the beginning of vert season. If you aren't getting mid range kbb then your car is not clean and well taken care of or you are letting yourself get ripped off. KBB values fluctuate though which is the only thing I have noticed. In January mid range kbb for my car was less than 17k and now it's over 18k but either way you should still only settle for mid range kbb.

When I traded in my 07, mid KBB was 17500. They offered me 16,200 after we agreed on the price of the '11. Since I really didn't need a new car I just said no thanks. They ended up calling me 5 times that afternoon and eventually offered me 19,600 for my '07.

You could always tell a little lie, if they offered 15,000 you could say such and such dealership offered me 16,000 on trade in value

Try other stealerships, tell them papa ford quoted you this, so perhaps mama ford will sweeten the deal a little in order to chalk another one on the board.
