Default Rear ended by a mercedes.

So today I was waiting at the arby's drive thru, and was compeltely still and this guy behind me pulls up at about 2-3 mph(?) and bumps into me. He was apologetic (old guy) and his front bumper had a big crack in it, but mine had nothing visible from more than 6 inches away (small scratches see pic), he gave me his phone number, name, $50, and I got his license plate. My dad said that it was too minimal to really do anything about (my damage, not his) and to just make sure it drives ok, and doesn't feel off or anything... I was shaky, and I feel like vomiting. I've never even run a red light before, let ALONE get into an accident.

What else should I do? Can internals get damaged in a 2-3mph collision? What should I check for?

Thank you everyone for reading, I am really appreciative. I guess it had to happen eventually...

Forgot to add: the car drives fine. No noises, no gut feeling of anything amiss. Should I have a shop check it out? How much will that cost?

thanks again everyone

I wouldn't even worry about it. Worse happens to your car at a store parking lot or apartment complex. I don't think I would've even take the $50.

Look for some bent metal below the car...they are made to absorb the impact.

LOL Why do people get so shaky during minimal accidents? This is why a small accident sometimes gets so much worse.

Man,
If you took his $50. you just robbed him. A 2 to 3 mile per hour "Bumb" does not even qualify as an accident. You will get worse from rocks flying around on the road chipping your paint. Quit letting something that small bother you, if thats gonna bother you, you should probably give up driving now, before you stress yourself into a stroke. Drive it, enjoy it, live life in it, and remember "Chicks Dig S-cars"...... LOL

Your car is perfectly fine. I would call the guy back and tell him you want to return his $50. It's the right thing to do and in the end you will feel better about yourself. I know you were shook up because of the bump, but you shouldn't have taken the guy's money (Please don't think I'm putting you down..I understand this is the first time something like this has happened and I probably would have taken the money too when I was younger). You can probably buff those scratches out pretty easily.

I wish that was the worse accident I was ever in. I've been in a couple of bad ones years ago. Always the others fault, one with no insurance. Recently the wifes mach1 rear bumper was backed into in a Target parking lot. Someone with a trailer hitch. Cost us 550.00. No note, no 50.00s even. I hope that's the worse thing that happens to you on the road.
