WMS Hood Pins

WMS Hood Pins
For those with experience with these hood pins. What am I doing wrong?
I've got way to much time trying to make this system work compared to what you guys seem to. For what ever reason, I cannot get the darn cable to slide back to reset the pins.
When I have just the stock latch hooked up and not the WMS latches, the stock hood latch works great. As soon as I attach the cables for the WMS latches and pull the handle, the WMS latches open as they should, but when the hood release lever is released the stock latch goes back into place, but the cables for the WMS latches does not retract to reset the pins. The cable just bunches up between the lever and the opening going back into the cable, which is now starting to fray vs. just smoothly sliding back into the cable and allowing the pins to reset.
I've even ensured that the cables have a straight line into the bracket that holds them to the latch assembly.
I feel the cables are way to long and that is what my problem is...I'm reluctant to start cutting them to make them shorter.
Any ideas from those that are using them?
