Cleaning C&L Racer CAI
Anybody. What should I use to clean my C&L CAI. I used have K&N drop in inserts that just had to be cleaned every 50.000 miles with water and the re-oiled.
Is there something special I should do with this one.
Help appcrechiated....

ASSUMING it's an oiled filter, clean with hot water and a degreaser, allow to thoroughly dry (I always give mine 12-24 hours) then reoil. You can either buy a "recharging" kit or just use dish detergrnt (good degreaser) and most any air filter oil.

It is an oiled filter, I have the same one. I washed it with Dawn dish soap, rinsed, dried, and reoiled with some K&N filter oil I had left over.
Make sure you let it dry thoroughly and use the least amount of oil that you're comfortable with. Your MAF will thank you!! Any excessive amount of oil in the intake tract of these cars, especially when tuned, will wreak havoc with your idle.

I'd be leary of the dishwasher and of the chlorine and other chemicals in most automatic dishwasher detergents.
Cleaning frequency seems to have as much variance as what motor oil is "best" (i HATE that frickin' 4-letter word). IMO, start with 25,000 miles and then adjust based on your environmental conditions and what suits you. I usually begin performing visuals on mine after about 12,000-15,000 miles and then clean it at some point after that. Unless it's looking pretty bad I wouldn't bother unless the timing was convenient.
