3.73's manual, 4.10's automatic. Thats pretty much what I've gotten out of gears. If your concerned about gas mileage forget it. It has been debated on this forum a million times. Gears are not going to give you a significant change in gas mileage, it would take years for the gears to pay for themself as far as gas mileage goes. You want them for performance, get them for performance, be less concerned about gas mileage.

Amen my man! Every convo about gears always ends up mentioning loss of mpg. It's simply not observed in the real world and is not true. Get the gear and get goin!!!

I have 4.10s and the only reason I would have honestly wish I had 4.10's sometimes is when I am on the highway. I hate the fact that I'm at about 3k rpm @ 80 and like 2500 @ 70. I feel like its no good for the car to be running at an rpm like that for a long time. Otherwise 4.10s have put more than 1000 smiles on my face.

That's my point Turbo. Why sacrifice getting there sooner because rumormill indicates loss of mpg? The only ones who doubt gears are those who do not have them!
People think duals for acceleration; hogwash. Maybe they add a little. Compare that improvement to what you feel with 3.73s or 4.10s and it becomes a non-comparison.
For our 4.0 N/Aers, pipes make noise; gears smoke tires.

Mine is a daily driver all year round. I went with the 4.10 cause they are badass and make the car alive. The rpms are reasonable on the highway and not too loud considering i commute about 60 miles round trip a day. However, if you pound the gas pedal, the car becomes a gasaholic instantly. Compound that with 91 gas grade prices and your pockets better be deep. To give you a better perspective, i filled up thursday night from empty and right now its friday 1800 hrs and i got about a little a little under half a tank. The majority of the consumption though is from my driving since i was racing all night from traffic light to traffic light and flying on the interstate.
If you plan on having guests in your car, stay away from the 4.10 cause it tends to make them nautions from all the low end power. If you plan on driving alone and want to maximize your thrill driving, then get a 4.10. Somethings are worth paying extra for. And for me 4.10 gears and 91 gas works for me. Its a relative decision given what your preferences are. Either way, anything other than the production gear crap is worth the money. Peace

I drive 80 miles roundtrip for work, less than 10 are city. The rest I'm doing 70-75mph. I want 4.10's but I'm sure its gotta wreck havoc for gas mileage. I'd be going up 500rpm (22%) which seems like a lot to me, but I've got to do something to make up for my CAMs.

Did you lose a lot with the cams? Whats your stock gear 355 or 331?
