Default got to be kidding me

All I need is my over the axle connector pipes to be adjusted, and I am getting quotes of $115 and $100!!! Like really wtf it takes 20 mins. All they have to do is lift it up, loosen 4 bolts with a impact gun and adjust the pipes so they no longer hit the undercarriage. Both places were performance shops, and the $115 quote was from JDM engineering out in Freehold, NJ.

Ummm..well you have two choices...do it yourself or pay to have it done...?

Try a non-performance shop...

They probably assumed that you spent enough money modifying your ride, you'll spend some money to maintain it.

Shop around some more. Doesn't take a performance shop to use a lift or impact gun. Either that or go find some jack stands.

If you HAVE to get it done by someone else, how about going to Joe's Muffler Shop. Personally, it would be hands on for me.

I agree, hands on but I too had an issue with my old v6 after installing a new dual exhaust system. Took it to a shop after fighting with it on my back for 3 hours. Ready to pay the $70 they quoted me up front. Walked away with an adjusted exhaust system for free and an invitation to come back to them when I have some real performance work to be done.

OP, is there a reason you can't do it yourself?

Just pay it and move on. The headache is far worse than getting the problem resolved by a competent shop. Its a few bucks differece and I know, yes it hurts, but once everything is normal, you will get over it quick.

Shops must charge money to stay in business. 1 hr time minimum charge is NOT uncommon. Since all your paying for in this case is labor, Yeah, it seems out of line with the amount of time it actually takes.
Ive had people come in and ask how much it is to replace certain parts. "It's just held on by those 3 bolts" they say. Yes it is, but getting to those bolts is the hard part. Thats why you are here asking me to do it. Right? I laugh every time.

Try to do it yourself. I would never pay that $ for just that.
