Default garage door opener?

I noticed that the 2012's have the MYHome garage door opener incorporated in the visor. This option wasn't available on the 2011's. Anyone know if it would be posible to install a visor with the door opener into the 2011? I am sure that power has to be run?

Finally Ford does Homelink in the Stangs...I'd be very interested in these for my '10 vert also.

I've not seen these actual visors but basically most of these openers are variations of HomeLink technology.

The trick will be getting the power up to it with a clean look. Again...having not seen them I don't know if the wiring goes through the visor mount or has a seperate short wire.

Homelink is really fairly simple...they pretty much just need a power wire and ground. Which can be tapped at the fuse box or from a known circuit behind the dask. How clean it looks depends on the mount and wire routing Ford is using in the new style visors. I'll be keeping an eye for '12 Stang to see how they mount.

Its been done already. It just splices into the always hot wire from your map lights ...

I wired a switch to a garage door opener and then wired to the mustang so I dont have to change the battery. Installed the switch in the dome light. Done

My wife has this in her 2010 Eddie Bauer explorer. I have the Chamberlin shaft drive opener and couldnt figure out how to make it work in stock form. From what I was reading, it's not compatible as is. You guys know how to make it work? It'd be nice to recover that remote she never uses for my old explorer...

All you need is a gps in the your car and your house rigged up as favorites, and some one will steal your Stang and have access to your house due to the garage opener and your favorites setting on your gps. So beware cause s--t like that happens all the time around here.while people are at work. Make sure you set your favorites on your gps as a house 3 - 4 houses down just incase. Take it for what its worth.

Looking at some other forums where others have already done the swap it looks like it will run close to $400 or so for both sides(parts only). The design is different enough that you pretty much have to have both sides.

From what I've read they are an overall upgrade as the passenger side is lit and both sides slide/extend a few inches for when the sun is coming in from the side.

Part #'s for Coupe:
Driver: BR3Z6304105DB
Passenger: BR3Z6304104AB

Vert:
Driver : BR3Z7604105DA
Passenger: BR3Z7604104AA

edit:
I've looked at a couple Ford parts houses online and didn't see these listed yet. It looks like most have been going to their dealers to order directly.

Or they could take your registration instead and have your precise address. This is also why I installed a deadbolt from the garage into the house. And if they do manage to get in the house or garage while Im here, they will being saying hello to my little friend Sig and goodbye to this world. One of the few things I like about Colorado...

I got the same Sig in my house, p229 to be exact and an assault riffle. And as Scarface says in his final scene when he blows those fu--kers away "Kayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy" hahaha.

P250 here with a .38 special as a backup piece. I dont know if I had an assault rifle I'd let that loose in the house unless absolutely necessary, but if I did...I'd certainly add a little Scarface and let'er rip from the top of the stairs! rofl...

Isn't the accessory mirror like $300? Plus you still have to run power down to it. the Boss does not have the OEM piece attached to the windshield that the wires run inside off. might be about the same cost to just get the visors in the end. Since Boss HAS lighted mirrors we should be good to go.

Looks like teamshelby.com has the parts for $300. That includes both visors, and the harness. I just did a search on the part number, and a lot of places appeared.

i havent verified it personally, but others have said that all teh 12 cars have power ran and just not used. The visor woudl be fine with me. What i realyl want is just a bluetooth system that will open the door when my car gets close without me having to mess with it at all.

They don't need gps to know where you live. If they steal your car all they have to do is open your glove box and read your address on you insuance card, you lic plate papers, hell, even the maintenance papers show yor name and address.

The nice thing about the US is citizens are allowed to own guns. In Texas, you are allowed to carry concealed with a sidearm permit. So if a car crook drove my car back to my house, he did me a favor. I get my car back and he basically turns himself in right the end of my gunbarrel. Citizens arrest while I wait for the cops to show up. And if he himself has a gun or other weapon and tries to do anything stupid, I will defend myself.

I think this guess is right. And for the sake of manufacturing simplicity, even the Boss trims have them.
Would be great since it is just plug n play

Homelink is just another electronic invitaion tools for theives.
Car stolen.
Registration in glove box.
Home address.
Homelink.
Instant access.
Now homelink with fingerprint verification would be a nice addition...
I sitll like hooking it up to the high beams.
Flash to open the garage...
Now thats t r i c k...
Can you imagine a theif driving down your street flashing the high beams
to find the garage door that opens....

I like that idea. Or to save money, homelink could stay locked until you key in a PIN or password into it or Sync.
