Default Cruise control lights shorting out, anyone had similar?

Im experiencing a problem with my cruise control lights on my steering wheel. When i turn the wheel to the left (any, like even 1 degree) all the lights shut off. If i turn the wheel to the right they stay on. This happened both times i drove but also after a few minutes of driving the lights stayed on unless i turned much further to the left. The cruise control didnt work at all until the light stayed on longer too.

Im assuming its just a short somewhere but i have no clue where i would start or if i should just take it to the dealership and see what they say. Id much rather do the work on my own, and my dad probably could help me a good bit (he is a mechanic for Delta). Any ideas on where to start looking for problems? Do i need to disassemble the wheel to get to any wiring? And will i have problems with the airbag if i try to take stuff apart?
