O/R X and SLP LM IMO sound like crap. It would sound much better if you have M80s or magnflow (round mufflers) welded in before the axle.

Well it really depends on your state for emissions testing, but for the most part you are correct. In new jersey if I have the O/R X on, I wont pass inspection. Unless I go to a private inspection and pay a couple bucks.....

And back to the OP, I did install myself took about half hour forty five minutes, fairly simple.

Well Missouri has emission tests that are city-metro area mandated not state wide.

But I have heard of inspectors actually looking for a cat on newer vehicles in non-emission tested areas.

I guess you just have to know who checks and who doesn't.

If you plan on doing longtube headers then dont change your mufflers. The LTs will open it up bigtime.

Ever give any thought to the Pypes Mid-Muffler system with an off road H pipe? I had it on my car but it was way too loud for me so it's laying on the floor in my garage.

you need cats in California
you could switch the midpipes to stock for inspection
o/r midpipe will make the most difference in loudness
for flowmaster 10's or dynomax race bullets, you will have to weld and fab.
cherry bomb makes a single chamber axle back for our S197's. cherry bomb extreme.
i had the single chamber cherry bombs on my fox, it was louder than flowmaster 2 chambers.
you could also go with boomtubes.
