Default Ford Hot rod cams, daily drivable?

Hey guys, I haven't posted in a while but I've done a lot of crap to my car since then lol. I have CAI, tune, 4.10, off road x, pypes cat back, few other goodies. I've really been missing that cammed V8 sound my other cars had, but right now the Mustang is my only car which I daily drive. My concern is not gas prices but how hard on the valve train the hot rod cam is, also how will my longevity and reliability be affected? I know the cam is small, but if my cars durability is affected too much I might pass on them, does anyone have any experience or advice they can give me? How does the cam handle daily driver duties? Well, thanks for any advice.

I had them in my 06GT.
Perfectly driveable. No problems. Sound great and you get that nice shake.
Shouldnt affect longevity. I would advise getting long tubes with them to get the max power from them too.

The Hot Rod Cams are just.... AWESOME.

Perfect driveability. Throw in some urethane motormounts for that added shake. I love mine. Before I went supercharged I had a Brenspeed tune for those cams. I highly recommend them.

Wow you guys have some very positive opinions about these cams. How much is the average shop charging for installation?

I believe around 1200 is a normal cost for the cams AND the install.

^^This. I rode in BSmokes 06 and it drove like a dream; sounded awesome. Forget those people that whine about TQ loss at low RPM, they need to learn how to drive a car.

LOL. I need to learn how to drive an automatic? Say what you will, but even Brenspeed admits they lose TQ down low.

FRPP Hot Rod Camshaft Set

Designed for rough idle using the factory valve springs. These cams by FRPP will give you a rough idle with gains in HP and Torque at high RPM. Expect small loss of torque at lower RPM's. These cams are tune required. If you are looking for the rough idle but want the lowest torque loss and highest HP gain in the industry check out our Brenspeed Detroit Rocker grind.
I seriously doubt HotRod's do any better than Detroit Rocker's down low.

I wish that was true.

OP, you WILL notice a difference since you already have 4.10's. Do this mod for SOUND #1, high rpm power #2. Long tubes should be on your very soon to install list.

Sorry BMR but I had NO loss of trq at all.
In fact with the tune I gained trq. I say with confidence trq loss with the NSR cams in alot of these cars I have seen is from the tune.
If you lose ANY... it should be minimal and you should not notice it. ESPECIALLY if you had 4.10's put in at the same time.
With a noticeable loss after that... I'd blame it on the tune.

And again to say to do this for sound 1st I think is wrong.
40rwhp gain without F.I. is good.

Again... 1800 or so compared to 7 grand or more.

If you got the cash F.I. will net more. We ALL know this. But I' said it before and I'll say it forever, without F.I. cams are a
great mod to gain power.
