Nice. Would a dyno tune run about 500? And if I installed myself, would a bama tune hold me over for the drive to the tuner? Thanks for all the help.
Mine was 600 and I really don't know what the going rate is as this is the only one I've had. I would assume any tune be it factory PCM or email would get you there but I don't know what bama would charge for something like that.
My SC email tunes are both from JDM, 1 with cats 1 without cats. I haven't tried the catless tune yet as I haven't installed my or pipe but the tune with cats runs awesome, I cant say enough about it. Not sure a dyno tune is necessary, I also dont know many people running an FI Bama tune, but I know bama does tune for FI.

I can give it a try and see how it fares. I'm so excited to get it man. There is one on craigslist for $3k with a smaller pulley installed. I can almost afford it now, but almost doesn't cut it and I bet he won't take monthly payments.lol.
I've always been told a full dyno tune will always result in more hp, not knocking JDM's tune but there was a guy in the shop I got my tune with that had a JDM tune on his M90, he left with more horsepower.
It would make sense that someone able to be hands on would be able to make a better tune. It's good to know that I can load a bama tune and at least be operable until a dyno tune opening clears up.

All depends on who's doing the tuning, I have yet to find a shop here I would trust to tune mine, and have heard the same from other mustang owners. Is it really worth an extra 200-300 bucks? Maybe, maybe not depends on your goals, if your not gonna track it I would say no. Not to mention if you data log most of the tuners will send free revisions based on the data collected to dial in your tune, in fact I believe VMP suggests it. A good tuner who knows how to tune these cars is key as far as I'm concerned even if 10-20hp or even 30hp is left on the table. Since I installed the SC and JDM's tune my trans shifts better and smoother than it ever has, there is more to a tune than just more HP. I'm not knocking you guy either in fact I agree given the choice of the two a dyno tune with a "Reputable tuner" is better but when your talking about some of the best in the country like JDM or VMP sometimes your better off. JDM specializes in late model boosted fords so I will trust them over the dyno tunes I can get locally based on what I currently know. Now if JDM or VMP were to come here to the west coast I'd be all over it. I also think their are a few shops up around Seattle but again your talking another 150 min on top of the tune itself just to get their and back.
No, I love posts like that. Full of information and first hand accounts! I wish I could find/win/have a way to make about another 1k and I could go ahead and pull the string. My course load won't allow me to work this term though.
