Quick question about supercharger basics for the 4.6
What are the absolute base components needed to have a working supercharger? I really want f/i if I can fit it in my budget, but it looks like I'm going to have to do some shopping around and some deal-finding to get it done, if I can get it done at all.
I am searching ebay right now for deals, and this came up:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/2007-...#ht_500wt_1182
What else would I need besides pulleys and the adapter plate that what's-his-name is working on? I see an intake, throttle body, etc.
Is this list pretty much right?
- Blower
- Blower Bracket
- Crank pulley and Supercharger pulley
- Bypass valve
- Boost gauges
- Fuel pump
- Fuel injectors
- Fans for the supercharger
- Air filter inlet for the supercharger
(optional)
- Intercoolers
- Intercooler piping

- Blower Bracket.......no
- Crank pulley and Supercharger pulley..........no stock crank pulley and manifold kit comes with pulley
- Bypass valve.......no it is already built into the blower
- Boost gauges ....no
- Fuel pump.....yes or Boost a Pump
- Fuel injectors......yes or used GT500 injectors
- Fans for the supercharger ............no
- Air filter inlet for the supercharger.......should come with SC
(optional)
- Intercoolers....Not optional you need it

- what do you mean by manifold kit? I apologize, but I know little about superchargers, although I'm trying to learn. I've read the stickies in the f/i section.

aware me on what you are asking?
there is someone on this board(ask around and you'll find him, i forgot his username) that has made a working adapter plate for the 5.4 to 4.6 supercharger and is about to start producing them.

I just bid on a gt 500 blower but almost immediately retracted my bid. I don't want to buy one of these until the adapter is in production. Also, he is pricing them at $1800, which is going to make it easier to just get a procharger or something similar.

I would not piece-meal one together, but then I am mechanically challenged. I remember when my ex-stang first started with FI, it had the P1SC Procharger kit.... and that's it. The kit came with everything needed to run about 9 lbs boost. I would save a bit longer and get something that is tried, tested, and complete .... and just plug-in and play. Once you start mixing and matching, it can get more troublesome. Keep it simple ... at first anyway.

A GT-500 blower is a complete waste of money. Once you piece together all the required components you've spent more then a FRPP Whipple kit in the long run. If you do a cost effective blower kit search on here you'll find a lot of members have the M90 blower kit and they got it for around $3,000. That is a great starting point.
