Default DIY Push button start

So I've searched through the forums, and all the writeups seem to be out of date, missing images, or non-existent.

The ones I've found out on google are a bit sketchy, and confusing.

So I'd love it someone had a writeup for a DIY push button start that they could share.

Sorry for posting so many un-necessary threads!

Yea I've seen the kit, but I don't want to have to pay for it. I'd rather do it myself, save some cash for other mods. ^-^

There's not a whole lot to it, based on the how the stack racing and ford racing push button starts work, they have installation sheets that outline the wires you need to cut into, the button itself is Just a momentary normally open switch.

I bought mine from American Muscle. It’s only two wires, and the write up from American Muscle that danzcool provided will show you the two wires (white and green).

Be aware of the oil pressure gauge if you’re going to do this, not a big deal to me but this problem annoys some people (as long as you don’t sit in the car with the key in the on position for a while you may never notice this).

If you’re going to do LED lights on it just wire into the 12V cig lighter, not sure which wire is the power? Can someone help here with that info?

Alright sweet, thanks for that write up!
I'll just stop on down by radio shack and find myself a nice button. Seems like an easy mod.

As for power on the cig-lighter, just use a voltage tester.

Just in case.

DON'T install this on a manual!
Just ask the guy on the forum who did and bypassed the wire to have it work and took his car to the dealership for an oil change, and returned to find his car in the lake across the road from the dealership.

True story. Not a smart idea on his part.
I also believed he tried to get the dealership to pay for it too lol.

Can't break the law and safety precautions and think it's others fault!

Here's the button I'll go with. Green LEDs match my floorwell lights. Wooo.

That was remote start, kput is talking about push start, which requires a key in the ignition and a person in the car pushing the button.

ya from what I hear/recall it was a remote start

basicly the dealer guy pressed what he thought was the panic button to find the car but it started it and then it drove into a lake
