The 3.7L 305 power is nothing but smoke and mirrors. Sure the 4.6L makes 315 in the 2010 GT, but that 315 power is backed by torque. That 4.6L pumps out 325 ft-lbf at the crank and actually holds on to its torque up to redline.

The 3.7L is all smoke and mirrors because its torque sucks. It only pumps out 280-ft-lbf and the only reason why it makes so much power is because of revs; it will hit 70000 RPM. HP by high revs is nowhere near torque, and trust me, even though it is only a 45ft-lbf difference, you will feel every bit of that torque when you step on the gas. The 4.6L's 325ft-lbf will still beat that 280ft-lbf even though their power outputs are almost identical.

Speaking of technology, I am surprised that Ford has not EcoBoosted the 3.7L yet. The 3.5L SHO has proven Ecoboost to be viable, and the 3.7L was designed from the very first by Ford engineers to mount EcoBoost equipment.
Afterall, the Camaro V6 is direct injected, EcoBoosting the 3.7L will put that engine into 400 BHP and 400 ft-lbf range; just install better conrods and forged pistons and you are there.

And also, the Coyote 5.0L was also designed to mount direct injection and forced induction too. That is good for 600+ BHP and the same amount of torque.

When Ford decides to quit its license with Shelby to make the Shelby GT500 (or if they decide to renew it), I'd like to see what engine will replace the 5.4L DOHC. Maybe a larger displacement version of the 5.0L Coyote? A Coyote stroked and bored to 5.4L?

I don't have 6000 dollars.. im 17 just started college and struggling with unleaded fuel!! but my middle name is shelby and it's in the blood to drive a mustang..and it's gotta be a v8 no offence at all to anyone. technology is crazy back in 93 when we were getting (and by we i mean you older folks because i was born that year haha) 230 hp out of a 302 and now we've got cars like the 370z 3.7L busting out with 330 bhp..

Some you will beat....some will beat you.....and life goes on. Costs money to be the fastest and then the guy with a buck more than you steps up...never ending. Be happy with what you have or spend more. In the mean time, have fun messing with those old Maverick 302's that think they are fast......(I would never....lol)
